Hello and Happy 2019 everyone! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments.com. Hopefully you had a wonderful Holiday Season and are looking forward to the New Year and all it has to bring!
I’m back today with a new card for Dare 2B Artzy using one of my favorite stamps, Spit Happens featuring the adorable Alpaca with its scarf. This image is so terribly cute, it’s hard to resist.
My card today used an alcohol ink background that I had made earlier last summer and had completely forgotten about. I’ve been in re-organization mode (as part of my New Year’s plans) for my stamps and dies and came across some backgrounds. I achieved the texture on this alcohol background by using up a wadded paper towel to blot at my alcohol inks before they dried completely. I love the little texture effects here and there.
I thought that the vibrant pink and orange with pops of the metallic silver on this background looked great so it was a good choice to use for my card today.
I die cut a circle from the center of my background and set it aside.
Next, I stamped the little polka-dot party hat from the Spit Happens stamp set. I created a mask by restamping the party hat onto the sticky edge of a Post-it Note and fussy cutting it out. I used this as a mask to place over the party hat while I stamped the Alpaca. I positioned the Alpaca from the Spit Happens stamp set so that it would look like the Alpaca was wearing the hat. I colored the little party hat and Alpaca with my Copics. I tried to use some bright, vibrant colors on the scarf and saddle of the Alpaca as well to tie into my card and the other bright colors.
While there is a matching die available for the Alpaca, since I’d added the party hat to it I had to fussy cut the stamp out when I was done. I cut it out and set it aside.
Next, I stamped 4 of the large stars from the Dare 2B Artzy Patriotic Owl stamp set using some embossing ink and heat embossed them with some silver glittery embossing powder. Once finished, I fussy cut each of the stars out and set them aside.
For the window of my card front, I wanted to create a bright Bokeh effect. Using a piece of white card stock cut to the same size as my background of 5 ½ x 4. I placed the alcohol ink background over top of the white cardstock and lined them up. Using a light orange pencil, I drew a faint line to reference on where my Bokeh dots needed to go to show up in my window.
I was now ready to create the dots. I used a couple different colors of orange ink and one color of bright pink ink. I tried to match ink colors as close as possible to the alcohol inks used. Using a couple sponge daubers, I inked the dauber and stamped onto some scrap paper before inking up the background. I varied the light and darkness of the sponging to give it some variation.
To finished, I stamped the sentiment Sending Warm Wishes into the center of the circle from the Spit Happens stamp set. I heat set it with some silver glitter embossing powder.
Once finished, I added a layer of dimensional foam around the cover piece and lined it up with the Bokeh background and my sentiment so that it would show through the die cut circle.
I added the stars that I’d stamped and heat embossed earlier around the outside of my circle for a little more silver bling.
On the inside, I decided to make this a New Years card. I had a Happy New Year stamp from another company that I stamped on the inside of the card.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s bright, Warm Wishes card.
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope your 2019 is off to a great, crafty start!
Hugs
Tonya
