Hi Artzy Friends! It’s Tonya with the Dare 2B Artzy Design Team. I am back today with another card featuring some fun products from Dare 2B Artzy.
I decided to get a jump start on the 4th of July with a delicious patriotic card that could be used either for 4th of July or for a birthday celebration in July.
To start, I stamped and colored three of the ice cream sundaes from the Dare 2B Artzy Candy Shop stamp set. I tried to do some monochromatic coloring and feature some red, white, and blue sundae’s but I had to add in some of the other sundae colors for toppings – so not truly monochromatic but close.
Once colored, I did die cut each with the coordinating die however I ended up fussy cutting them as I decided I did not want the white border against my background.
I also colored some of the little chocolate pieces and stamped the candy with some red ink and fussy cut them as well.
For my background I used the Night Sky Hot Foil plate. I have been wanting to foil on black cardstock and I decided that the Night Sky Hot Foil Plate would be perfect to creating a sort of Fireworks in the night sky kind of scene.
To foil it I used some iridescent red and silver foil and some pretty blue foil. I cut the foil into about 1 or 2 inch strips and layed them across my hot foil plate making sure I didn’t have any gaps – pretty side toward the plate. This allowed me to create the fun red, white, and blue background with the Night Sky foil plate. I did have a bit of over foiling I think because I let my foil plate get too hot. I used a light touch with a sand eraser to take care of it. I had to be careful as the sand eraser left some marks on the black cardstock but they are not too noticeable.
I cut down the foiled background using the Mini Slim Wavy Layers die set.
To add a coordinating back to the foiled piece I cut the background from the Slim Mini Heart die set. This background pairs perfectly with the Mini Slim Wavy layer as the scallops line up together very well. I cut the background from the back of the Mystical Mermaids collection. The red stripes paired perfectly with the red, white, and blue foil background.
For the sentiment, I did not have a Happy 4th of July stamp set in my stash from Dare 2B Artzy so I opted to use the Time to Celebrate stamp from the Well Wishes stamp set. This set has some awesome all-purpose sentiments so it’s one of my go-to stamp sets when I need a sentiment.
I stamped the Time to Celebrate stamp and heat embossed it with Blue embossing powder. I do not have a coordinating die set for this stamp, so I used my Brother Scan-n-Cut to cut out the sentiment.
My stamped and colored images were added to the foiled background with some dimensional foam and added the sentiment at the bottom.
I added a piece of iridescent cardstock to the background of my panel. I rounded the corners so that it matches with my die cut backgrounds.
Everything was added to a mini-slimline card base made from 110lb Neenah cardstock.
This card could easily be made to a fun birthday card by adding a Happy Birthday sentiment on the inside or perhaps a fun 4th of July card to give someone who is hosting your family for a 4th of July Bar-b-que.
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have enjoyed my card. Links provided below for the products used in today’s card at no cost to you.
Hugs,
Tonya
