Please give a warm welcome to…..
My name is Ruza and I share my creations over at Ruza’s Craft Corner. I’m a stay-at-home mom to a Special Needs young lady in Northern Illinois. I’ve been crafting since I was a young child, and when I became a “SAHM” 7-years ago I turned to crafting. Creating cards, altering items, and just having fun with paper and Copic Markers, Watercolor Markers, Pencils, etc. It is an amazing hobby that I truly love. I’m very grateful that I have a husband that supports me, a son that loves seeing and receiving my creations, and that my special young lady enjoys getting into my crafts (sometimes). I truly love the challenge of making something beautiful with the various products available in the crafting industry, and I honored that Dare 2B Artzy invited me to be a Guest Designer this month. Their collection of stamps and coordinating dies are amazing, and so fun and easy to work with.
Today’s card features the Penguin Fun Stamp Set (#16221) along with the Penguin Dies (D29). I love penguins so this set caught my eye immediately, and I just had to play with them.
I stamped one of the three penguins from the set several times using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and Copic Markers were used to color them. Using the coordinating dies I cut out one of the penguins. I then fussy cut out each section of the “ugly sweater” and layered them back together using my Xyron Sticker Maker. Just so you have an idea what I’m talking about … you have the full sweater plus bow-tie, next is the sweater and bow (no sleeves), with the final portion just being the bow-tie. This adds a little more dimension to the card that is more noticeable in person because you can feel the texture.
I put the adorable penguin on some icebergs. I positioned and stamped the bottom iceberg on my card, and added the Sweater Weather Sentiment at the same time with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then stamped two more icebergs and cut one out with the coordinating die, and fussing cut the second one as I only wanted a portion of the iceberg. Color was added with my Copic Markers. Tumbled Glass Distress Ink was added above the iceberg on my card, and then using 3D Foam Squares I added the other icebergs and the adorable penguin to my card.
The penguins in this set are so adorable, and I look forward to creating more projects with them.
