Hello and happiest of Wednesday’s to everyone! We’re half way through the week – whoo hoo!! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments. I’m popping in to share another fun card featuring some Dare 2B Artzy stencils and stamps.
When I was playing with my Tonic Shimmer Powders the other day, I created 3 backgrounds. This card features my second of the 3 backgrounds using the Atlantis Burst and Green Parade Shimmer Powders. These powders, when activated have so much sparkle and shimmer in them but it’s really difficult to have that show in photos. Trust me – the sparkle is gorgeous!
To create the background, I cut a piece of Canson water color paper to A2 size and wet the entire piece of water color cardstock this time with some water. Once it had a good saturation, I lightly tapped on the Tonic Shimmer Powder bottles to get some of the powder to come out. As a rule, you really don’t want to squeeze these bottles or you’re likely to get more powder than you need or want.
Again, I applied one layer which was pretty light so I set it with my heat tool and then added a second layer which made the color so much deeper and pretty. I heat set it again. I trimmed down the water color panel slightly.
Next, I pulled out my Dare 2B Artzy Flower Corner Stencil and placed it over my water colored background and taped it in place to my craft mat using some Post-it tape to make sure the stencil wouldn’t move. I pulled out a pallet knife and some Nuvo Embellishment Mouse in Coral Calypso and took some mousse out and began applying it over the stencil trying to get an even amount of coverage across the entire stencil and my background. Once I was happy that I had good coverage, I carefully peeled back the Post-it tape and lifted up the stencil. I immediately took my stencil to the sink and washed it with warm water and a bit of soap. It’s important to wash your stencils right away when using any kind of mousse, glitter paste, etc. because they are very difficult to remove once they dry on your stencil. Better safe than sorry!
I set my background aside to dry overnight. In the meantime, I used an older Dare 2B Artzy stamp set called Fun Titles. This stamp has 7 sentiments and two frames in which to place the sentiments. This stamp also pairs with the Dangle Thanks stamp set really well.
I cut a piece of vellum by 5 ¼ x 2 and placed it in my MISTI. First I stamped the frame with some Versamark and used some Champagne embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I stamped the sentiment You Add Sparkle to my Life with some Versamark and added some dark green shimmery embossing powder. I thought this sentiment was perfect with my shimmery background.
I added some tape to the back of the vellum under the sentiment so that it couldn’t be seen and then adhered it to my card panel.
Because I can never have enough shimmer, I popped my panel up on top of a teal green piece of glitter cardstock. It paired perfectly with the shimmer powder in the background.
I added the panel to a top folding A2 size card and glued a few sequins to the vellum strip. The entire card is 6 x 4 ½.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card! I love all the shimmer to it and all of the elements came together perfectly.
Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget that Dare 2B Artzy has a new challenge going on for the month of June. Our challenge this month is Bright Colors. We’d love to see what you create. Be sure to link your project to this Dare 2B Artzy blog post as the winner of the June challenge will receive a stamp set and ink pad of their choice from Dare 2B Artzy!
Hugs,
Tonya
