Hello my Artzy friends! Carrie Rhoades here, happy to back sharing on the Dare 2B Artzy blog today. I have been playing around with no line coloring a lot lately and felt drawn to give it a try using the bee images from the Honey Bears Stamp set.
I stamped the images using Antique Linen Distress ink and began coloring them in with my Copic Markers. I did color two bees before I felt like I had the hang of it and knew how I wanted to color them. With a total of four bees colored I made a set of 3 cards. Let’s take a look.
I wanted to give the bees somewhat of a vintage look to go with this beautiful paper, All The Buzz. Here is the first card in the set.
The markers I used to color in my bee are; T0, T4, T5, Y00, Y02, R20. I started by tracing the outline of the bee with my T0 marker. Then I added in the dark stripes with my T4. The yellow stripes were then added in with Y00. Next I added some shading with T5 and Y02. The cheeks were brought to life with the R20 maker. Honestly these were so fun to color I could have sat and colored up and entire swarm of them!
For each of the cards I used a different pattern of paper from the All the Buzz Paper Variety Pack and cut it to 4″ x 5-1/4″ so it would fit easily on an A2 sized card (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″).
I die cut a circle using my Double Dot Circle Framelits for the sentiment on each card. I love the fine detail of dots these dies make on the circle and on the piece you cut it from.
For this third cards I added a bear from the All the Buzz paper, because I can use my dies from the Honey Bears stamp set to die cut the bears in the paper. It’s one of those things that makes me so happy! And the images on the paper have the look of no line coloring, so it was the perfect fit for this card.
There is a tiny bee stamp in this set and I used that as an accent on all my cards. I finished off each card with the addition of tiny gems.
I think these cards would make a great gift and I would love to make a coordinating holder for them using the Backpack Die.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you find time to get Artzy and stay safe too!
