No Foam Shaker Card – Crazy 4 Cocoa

Hi there Artzy family! I have a blog post and video for you today using the super cute stamp set called Crazy 4 Cocoa.

I’ve been wanting to make a shaker card ever since I saw a video from Maria Willis where she showed how to make a no-foam shaker card. I just knew that this card style would go perfectly with the Crazy 4 Cocoa stamp set!

I started out by coloring the images with my alcohol markers. Once I cut the images out, I created a background for my shaker by blending a mint color through a stencil from my stash.

My shaker “window” was created used leftover stamp packaging. The size is almost perfect for a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ size card. You could also use acetate for this (make sure to score the edges to fit the card panel). I cut off the sticky bottom portion of the packaging but made sure not to cut the fold or crease at the bottom. Next, I cut a window one one side of the plastic packaging from the top of the packaging down to the bottom stopping before the crease. You are basically cutting a “U” shape and leaving about ½ inch on all sides.

I next applied double sided adhesive to all four sides of the card panel. This panel was then placed into the window that was created with the packaging. I removed the adhesive tape on the right side and folded the plastic packaging over the adhesive to adhere. I then did the same thing on the left side. Next, a diagonal slit was cut in the plastic packaging on all four corners. This allows the plastic to easily fold over without getting bunched up. The bottom of the window was then folded up and adhered to the card panel. There should now be one opening in the window at the top. The shaker pieces are poured into the packaging from the top and then the top is adhered in the same manner as the other three sides. For extra security, all sides on the back of the panel were taped.

To finish the card, the colored images were then adhered using a tape roller to the outside of the shaker window. A thin piece of foam was added to the back of the shaker panel which was then adhered to a white 4 ½ x 5 ½ card base.
