Hello Artzy friends and welcome back!
It’s Tonya with the Dare 2B Artzy Design Team and I am back today with another colorful card featuring the new Dare 2B Artzy Frosty Hello stamp and die set. I just cannot get enough of these adorable snowmen.
My card for today was inspired by a beautiful full rainbow that I snapped a picture of as I was leaving work one day last week. It was such a vibrant rainbow and all the colors could clearly be seen.
I decided to replicate that with snowmen. I imagined what would happen to snowmen if snowflakes fell from a rainbow. You would have some very colorful snowmen indeed.
To start, I ink blended a rainbow using some Distress Inks onto a piece of 110 lb Neenah Solar White Card stock. The colors I used were Festive Berries, Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet and Villainous Potion.
I went over each color twice to get a pretty good blend between color transitions.
Next, I used the Slimline Snowflake die and cut out the ink blended background to create some rainbow snowflakes.
I stamped and colored 4 of the snowmen that were looking up and 3 of the snowmen in the top hat. Each snowman was given one of the colors of the rainbow and they were colored with Copic Markers to match the ink blended snowflakes. I cut all of the snowmen out using the coordinating die set.
I wanted some sparkle behind my snowflakes but didn’t have any white glitter paper so I used some Tonic Studios Glimmer Paste in Moonstone and smoothed that onto a piece of card stock cut to 3 1/2 x 6 1/4. I didn’t cover the entire panel with the Glimmer Paste, just used a pallet knife and pulled it down towards the bottom and made sure it was an even texture.
I let the Glimmer Paste dry overnight. Once it was completely dry, I ink blended on a small amount of Broken China Distress Ink from the bottom in the areas that I didn’t have any Glimmer Paste. The light blue color gives the illusion of snow covered ground for the snowmen to stand on.
To adhere the rainbow Slimline Snowflakes, I used quite a bit of Bearly Arts liquid glue and set some stamping blocks on it to make sure it dried.
Once it was dry, I was ready to add in my snowmen. I added the snowmen that are looking up first with some liquid glue, placing them directly under their coordinating color. The snowmen with the top hats were added with some dimensional foam.
I stamped the Let it Snow sentiment and cut it out using the sentiment flag strip from the Curved Slimline Border Die set. I shortened the flag a bit by adjusting it and sending it back through my die cutting machine.
Finally, for a finishing touch I added some coordinating colors of gems all across my rainbow snowflakes. I also added some white gel pen detail on the shows, hats and scarves.
The entire panel was added to a slimline card base with some dimensional foam.
I just love the bright and cheerfulness of this card. The Frosty Hello stamp is perfect for all of your Winter and Christmas Cards and tags.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!
Hugs
Tonya
