Hey everyone! It’s Tonya with Krafty Enchantments. I’m back today with another project for Dare 2B Artzy this week. Today I have a special 3D Project.
I want to state that I found the instructions for this project from a demonstrator site from another stamp company, however I don’t know exactly whose site it was and I can no longer find it so unfortunately I cannot link to it here. However if you check Pinterest and search for Mini 3D Albums you’ll find many variations on this one. I also had to modify it slightly as the dimensions that were included are not quite right.
To start I used 4 different kinds of card stock. Solid colors (green) for the base of the album and solid red and green for the pockets and album page bases and patterned Dare 2B Artzy cardstock for the decorated pages of the album and white card stock for the blank pages.
The base of the mini album is a piece of green cardstock that measures 3 3/8” wide by 8” long and is scored from each end of the long side at 3 3/8”. This creates the outside.
The spine of the album (Inside) is 3” x 2 ¼” and is scored at every ¼”.
To build the inside, you will need 4, 3” x 3” envelopes. I didn’t have any that small, so I made my own using an Envelope Punch board and some heavy white cardstock.
To assemble the album, you’ll need to attach cardstock that is cut to approx. 1/16” or 1/8” smaller than the envelope and for each layer. Those pages are added to the flap of the envelop on front & back and then layer on your decorative cardstock and white cardstock for writing/photos. You’ll do the same thing with the back and front of the envelope bases. For the inside, you’ll want to notch the cardstock with a circle punch so that the interior of the envelope can be used as a pocket.
Before I added the white cardstock to each, I used several Dare 2B Artzy stamps from the Cuckoo Clock and the Holiday Village Stamp sets and various colors of ink and stamped little designs on the blank pages to add some festive decorative elements.
As I completed each page, I used some score tape and added it to the spine working from back to front and making sure that the page was really well adhered.
I layered up different sizes of cardstock on the front and back inside covers to manually create pockets by only gluing the outside edges to the paper. In the pockets, I added a tag that I created using a tag punch and added some ribbon to the top to make it easier to remove.
For the outside cover, I used a piece of ribbon that was 18” in length. I used some glue and glued it to the outside cover and secured it in place.
I added some decorative cardstock on the front and back cover, leaving the ribbon sticking out to tie the mini album closed.
To finish it off, I used a die and cut a small scalloped circle from some green metallic cardstock and added a piece of white cardstock cut with a smaller circle to the center and stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Penguin Fun set and heat embossed with some green embossing powder.
The mini album happens to fit into a tea tin (also sold from another stamp company).
This will really be a fun gift to give to someone for Christmas and it was a fun project to make.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my project for today.
Hugs
Tonya.
