Happiness Blooms from Within

Hello and happiest of Monday’s to everyone! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments and I’m here to share an adorable card with you today.

I have moved recently and my D2BA Design Team-mates have been so awesome throughout this process. The wonderfully talented Melody Blake agreed to swap days with me so I’m posting today rather than last week.  I still haven’t found all of my crafting supplies & tools. I’ve actually had to buy a new heat gun and stamping blocks since I couldn’t locate mine. I’m hoping that I didn’t accidently send some boxes to Goodwill.

I recently received a wreath-builder stencil (from another stamp company) and I wanted to try it out. I figured that the fun flowers from the Playful Posies stamp set would make a great spring wreath.  We’ve had some beautiful spring-like days in the 70’s here in Colorado and so I definitely have a case of spring fever.

To start my card I used my MISTI tool and placed a 4 inch x 4 inch piece of white cardstock into the wreath stencil template and stamped the small solid flower from the Playful Posies using a range of bright spring ink colors. I did try not to duplicate any of the colors.

Once I had all of the solid flowers stamped I pulled out the small outline flower. I wanted to use complimentary colors to stamp the outlines a little offset from the solid flowers. Normally, I would use the color wheel I have to reference the colors, but it is lost amongst the boxes as well. Thankfully the internet is a great resource for things like that. I was able to pull up a picture of a color wheel to stamp the outlines using complimentary colors.

Once the outlines of the flowers were stamped, I took my cardstock out of my MISTI. Next, I used a small stamp block and the outline of the small leaf and stamped it in various different directions using a light green ink.

To add a bit of filler in, I used the little stamp with 3 dots from the Playful Posies and stamped all around the wreath in various colors. Once all of the colorful little dots were stamped, I used my Tonic clear Glitter Gloss pen and added a dot of shimmer to each of the colorful stamped dots. The Glitter Gloss pens are water based so it kind of created a cool raised effect on each of the dots as the water in the pen reacts with the paper. It added just the right amount of shimmer to my wreath.

For my center sentiment, I used the Happiness Blooms from Within sentiment from the Happiness Blooms stamp set and stamped it onto some white cardstock. I knew I wanted to add foil to the sentiment rather than stamping to give it a focal point that pops.

To foil the sentiment, I scanned the stamped sentiment into my computer and cleaned up any lines that showed up on my scanned image.

Once it was clean, I was able to print it using my Brother Laser Printer. If you have access to a laser printer, you can foil any stamped images you may have. The results are so pretty.

With my printed image, I cut it down to a small piece of cardstock and added a piece of green glitter foil to it and ran both through my Minc Machine. NOTE, I didn’t sandwich the image and foil in between parchment paper or cardstock, I just ran it straight through the machine which turned out great as long as you don’t cut your foil larger than your cardstock image to be foiled.

My beautifully foiled sentiment was then ready to be die cut. I chose a stitched circle die that fit pretty well in the center of my wreath.

I added the wreath to a piece of green cardstock cut to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 and added that to a top folding white card base that was cut to 4 ¼ by 8 ½  and scored at 4 ¼.

I didn’t add any additional embellishments because the glittered sentiment and the dots really give the card a lot of sparkle and I didn’t want to distract from the beautiful, bright wreath.

I really love this cute, spring-like card. All of the colors on the card make me so happy.  This will be a fun card to send to someone special to brighten their day.
