Bio:
You are getting a twofer with Kreative Kinship, so let us introduce ourselves. Our names are Michele Schutt and Maureen Turner and we are sisters living in Western New York. We are also wives, mothers and animal-lovers who happen to share a passion for paper-crafting. We both caught the scrapbooking bug about 20+ years ago when our children were little. Fast forward to today and we are empty-nesters who happily spend most of our free time immersed in the world of stamping and card-making. You can read more about us on our website here.
Hello friends! We are thrilled and honored to be guest designing for Dare 2B Artzy this month!
Today we are featuring our first of two cards using the Friends stamp set. This set includes two large leafy floral lemon tree branches, as well as a single blossom and five versatile friendship sentiments.
We started by stamping out both large leafy branch images as well as four single blossoms onto smooth white 80 lb. cardstock with alcohol marker-friendly black ink. The images were all colored using Copic markers using a light, medium and dark shade of each color to create depth and shading. The images were all fussy-cut and set aside while we prepared the card base and sentiment.
The sentiment was stamped using an off-set technique to create a drop shadow. We first stamped it in a yellow-orange dye ink, moved the stamp VERY slightly (only approximately 1-2 millimeters) up and to the right, and stamped it again with black detail ink. The sentiment was then cut with a small stitched postage stamp die. We also used a blending brush to add some green dye ink to the edges of the sentiment block.
The background panel was die cut from smooth white 80 lb. cardstock using a larger postage stamp die measuring approximately 4” x 5 ¼”. The edges of the panel were inked in the same manner as the sentiment block. Green and black splatters were added to this panel. We also cut three additional panels from inexpensive scrap white cardstock using the same postage stamp die. The three scrap white panels were stacked and adhered atop one another with liquid glue and the inked & splattered panel was adhered to the top of the stack to give the panel sturdy dimension.
The card base panel was created from yellow-green cardstock that was dry embossed with a leafy vine embossing folder and was then adhered to a white card base measuring just slightly smaller than 5” x 7”.
The white stacked card panel was adhered on top of the green panel using strong liquid glue. The colored leafy floral images were arranged and adhered to the white card panel with dimensional foam adhesive. The sentiment block was adhered over the top of the leafy images. We also tucked the single blossoms in and around the main arrangement and adhered them with liquid glue as well.
To add some finishing touches to this card, we applied gold glitter marker to the centers of all the flowers, and we scattered and adhered a few iridescent yellow gems around the floral arrangement.
Well, that completes our card project for today. We would like to thank Dare 2B Artzy for giving us this opportunity to represent their brand. We have another card project coming soon using this same stamp set, so stay tuned.
Stay safe and keep crafting!
