Bright Birthday with Birthday Balloons from Dare 2B Artzy

If you’re anything like me, you love getting bright, fun cards on your birthday. It just makes that day that much more special when people remember your Birthday. It’s always extra special to get a handmade card because you know a lot of love and thought went into it.

Today I’m sharing this fun Birthday card using the Birthday Balloons stamp and die combo set.

This small set packs a creative punch with 10 stamps and 1 balloon die. The individual balloons are about 1 ¼ inches tall and just under 1 inch wide. The group of 3 balloons are 2 inches tall by 1 ½ inches wide. You can color the stamps yourself or you can use one of the balloon stamps that are pre-designed.

I started my card background by masking off a piece of white cardstock with some Washi tape and inking it up in two different shades. Once I was satisfied with my coverage of color I brushed on some Perfect Pearls powder over the ink. This gives it a light shimmer over the surface of the ink.

Next I used an embossing folder to add a quilted design to my inked cardstock and then die cut it with a stitched square die.

I cut a few other layers of cardstock in colors that were complimentary to layer up my card background.

I wanted the balloon trio to pop so I stamped them onto some white cardstock and then partially die cut the bottom with a fishtail flag die and fussy cut around the balloons. Once they were cut out I colored the balloons with my Copic markers being sure to leave a slight highlight on each balloon. I also added some colorless blender to the highlight to make it pop a bit more. To finish them off I added some Glossy Accents to the balloons to give them some shine and dimension.

I cut additional fishtail flags from some Artzy Doodles paper. I cut them along the top polka-dotted edge of the paper so that the flags would have additional patterned interest. That polka dotted edge can add an area of interest to your project so don’t cut and toss it – use it! On the fishtail flag that would be the middle layer I stamped the Happy Birthday wave with some Versamark and heat embossed it and added a couple of dimensional glitter dots on either side of the text.

I layered all 3 flags together adding some dimensional foam to the layer with the balloons and also tied a piece of twine around it.

For my main sentiment, I die cut a fancy tag and stamped the Happy Birthday and heat embossed it with some purple embossing powder. I also brushed on some Perfect Pearls powder to give the sentiment the same shimmer as my background. I added two glitter dots on either side of my sentiment.
