Happy Wednesday Dare 2B Artzy friends! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments.com. I’m back today with a fun card featuring one of the awesome new stamp & die sets available for pre-order from Dare 2B Artzy! This set is called Spit Happens, it features an adorable Alpaca wearing a scarf, and has six sentiments and three additional images; a cactus, party hat and some wrapped packages. I am so in love with this cute little Alpaca. There is a second Alpaca stamp set that is also available with some different sentiments and a bit of variance on the Alpaca image. The set is called Alpaca Cake. They are both adorable and must have’s in my book.
Today, I have colored the Alpaca with my Soucolor Colored Pencils. I seem to be reaching for them more and more as I like the softer leads and blending capabilities of them. When I colored the Alpaca, I really was not sure about how their fur looked so I gave him some rather curly fur – as if it has had a perm LOL! I like it a lot it turned out kind of fun.
To create the curly fur I penciled in some light circles with my lightest shade of brown and then continued to build the color with a few darker shades of brown and a touch of black shading in some areas. Of course, I colored the saddle blanket and scarf with some bright fun colors.
For the cactus, I stamped about seven cactus images onto some white cardstock and did what I like to call, cheaters coloring. Cheaters coloring refers to using any quick medium to color an image or large area. This could be sponging on ink or even some quick and easy watercolor or painting. Any process allows you to put down quick & easy color. In this case, I sponged on two shades of green ink using an ink-blending tool. I could have left the images with just the sponged on shades of green, but I did go back in and add in some shading details in a few areas with my colored pencils. This just gives a bit of added color depth to the images. I ended up not utilizing all of the cactus on my finished card design, but I did set the others aside to use later on another project.
Once my coloring was completed, I was ready to cut all of the images out using the matching Dare 2B Artzy Alpaca Dies. Of course, this die set works with both of the Alpaca stamp sets that are available for pre-order.
I wanted to create a bit of a desert scene with a bright sky in the background so I sponged on several colors of ink onto some white cardstock from yellow, orange to a turquois blue, and purple, which makes for a gorgeous sunset or sunrise. I cut the finished image down to A2 size and used a piece of Kraft cardstock which I die cut to create a sort of desert floor by leaving in the bottom two pieces to create some landscape.
With those bottom two pieces, I did add some sand texture using my Spectrum Noir markers by just adding dots of ink all over the cardstock with the marker tip to give it some variation.
I ran the finished die cut Kraft cardstock through my Xyron sticker machine in order to add adhesive to the back, which makes it easier to adhere to my colorful background. I did use a glue eraser to erase any unwanted glue in places.
Finally, I added the Warm Wishes sentiment with some violet embossing powder and heat set it.
That is my fun Alpaca card for today. Hope you enjoyed it! Reminder, all of the new products are available for pre-order in the Dare 2B Artzy store under the “What’s New” section. Note, the new products will not begin shipping until February 15th.
Is anyone going to be at Creativation in Arizona this week on Jan 20-22nd? If so, be sure to visit Dare 2B Artzy at booth 2537 so you can see all the awesome new stamps, dies, paper and the fun new stencils in person! Below are some pictures of the gorgeous new papers that are being released. They are so and bright, the pictures do not do them justice. You are going to have “All the Colors & Patterns” syndrome with these.
Aren’t those stunning! The flowers remind me of my mom’s garden in the summer.
Thanks for stopping by today! I’m looking forward to sharing so many more fun new Dare 2B Artzy projects with the new goodies!
Hugs,
Tonya
