Hey there Dare 2B Artzy fans! Hope everyone’s having a great week. I’m back today to share a fun card that really has my toes longing for the feel of some sand between them. I’m overdue for a real vacation far, far away – preferably someplace where there’s no cell phone access so work can’t find me, LOL!
For now, I’ll have to settle for sharing this fun card with you. Today I’m using the brand new Flip Flops stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy. I love all the cute summer images in this set and the sentiments are so fun.
I was drawn in by the decks, docks and flip flops sentiment and decided to play on that to create a deck scene. To start I sponged on several shades of blue, teal and greenish-yellow to a piece of 4 ¼ by 5 ½ white cardstock. I blended the colors from darkest at the bottom on my cardstock to lightest at the top.
Next, I scoured my patterned cardstock for a piece that had a woodgrain background that I knew I had stashed away (because we keep everything -just in case… am I right?!). Once I found it, I used a slotted background die to cut it. The size of this die matched the size of my previous cardstock at 4 ¼ by 5 ½. Once my woodgrain background was cut, I adhered it to my sponged background.
My die cut has a small area on the die cut which is the perfect space for a sentiment. I cut a piece of white cardstock and used the decks, docks and flip flops sentiment and stamped it with some Versamark ink and heat embossed it with an orange embossing powder. I sponged a small amount of my mid-tone blue around the white sentiment to pull it together with my background. I used some dimensional foam to glue it in place on my background.
I stamped the Adirondack chair also with some Versamark and used the same orange embossing powder on it and heat embossed it as well. Once I was done, I fussy cut the chair out
For the flip flips, glass and lemons (or oranges) I colored them all with my Copics and fussy cut them out. I wanted to make it look as though there was liquid in the glass so I used my Glossy Accents and covered the area inside the glass up to the top of the lemon. I was careful not to get any air bubbles in it. Once I had covered the area I set the piece aside overnight to dry. The result makes it look as though there’s liquid in the glass which is pretty cool.
Once all of my images were completely colored and fussy cut I used some more dimensional foam to adhere them to my background.
I added a few green sequins to the background as well.
This card is so bright and fun and the catchy sentiment just makes whole scene. That’s all I’ve been able to think about lately; decks, docks and flip flops. Sign me up!!
I hope this card brings you some sunny, summer inspiration. Please check out all of the amazing new stamp sets that were recently released at Dare 2B Artzy’s online store.
