Pop-Up Shadow Box Card with Dare 2B Artzy!

July 12, 2019 0 Comments

Happy Friday, Dare 2B Artzy Friends!
I love 3D cards, and I have to give a big shout-out to my friend, Mary Reiner, for teaching me how to make a pop-up shadow box card!  Thanks so very much, Mary!

I began my pop-up shadow box card by cutting a piece of white card stock and a piece of yellow card stock at 6 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  Each card stock section was scored at 1/2″ and 1″ on the 5 1/2″ side.  The card stock pieces were then rotated 180 degrees and scored again at 1/2″ and 1″.  This allowed me to fold each of the sides accordion style.

The outside edges will be adhered together at the end to make a card that will fold flat and fit into an A2 size envelope.  When the card is removed from the envelope, it springs back to life and stands up!

An opening was cut into the white card stock using one of the D2BA Rectangle Framelits.  I cut a second smaller Rectangle Framelit from another piece of yellow card stock that was cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.  The yellow piece was adhered behind the opening in the white card stock to create a yellow frame.

The leaves were stamped from the Wishing Happiness Stamp Set using Dare 2B Artzy’s Margarita Lime and Paradise Ink Pads.  I used a Nuvo Blending Sponge to add highlights to the edges of the leaves for added interest.

In the photo below, I have not added the highlights to the leaves at the top yet!

The leaves were die cut using the coordinating Happiness Flower Die.  The flower pot and the single flower images were stamped from the Bouquet 4 You Stamp Set and colored with Copic markers.  These images were die cut using the Fresh Picked Die.  I decided I didn’t want the little leaf on each single flower image so I cut it off with my scissors.
After stamping the sentiment from the Bouquet 4 You Stamp Set onto the back yellow panel of the card, I adhered the front and back panels together.  A little glue and some foam tape were used to add the leaves and flowers to the card.  Thanks again, Mary, for showing Ohio Stamp Junkies how to make these fun 3D cards!

I had so much fun stamping the leaves that I decided to decorate my envelope with them, too!

I hope you’ll stop in at the Stampaway Show going on August 9th and August 10th in Cincinnati, Ohio, and visit my card, its envelope, and me!

Please don’t forget to enter the July Challenge at Dare 2B Artzy!  There is a $20 gift card up for grabs!

If you are on Facebook, please search for “Artzy Community” and request to join the D2BA group.  It’s a great place for inspiration, sneak peeks, and advanced notice on specials!

Happy stamping!
Melody
