Good Monday to you, Dare 2B Atrzy friends!!
Janette here sharing with you a super cute owl in OWL Be Thinking of You!
Today’s featured technique is how to to take busy elements and combine to an eye pleasing card. White space. White space is the solution to many card issues. White space allows a place for the eye to rest between views of busy-ness. White space is what brings the card together. Whenever you are feeling like something isn’t sitting just right, or the card needs a little more, often a touch of white space is what is needed!
This owl from the Hoot Hoot stamp set is adorable. It requires only simple coloring because it is so detailed. As with many Dare 2B Artzy designs, it almost has a Zentangle type feel to it. I first stamped Hootie in Totally Black ink and then with Versamark. I heat embossed him clear. Next, I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to give him a ring of green around the pupil of the eye and blue around the edges. I blended them together with a water brush filled with clean clear water. I then went on to color the beak, body, branches and flowers. Once dry, die cut Hootie and branch.
Continue by creating a white center panel with a decorative trim edge. You could use a die from your stash, like I did here, or even add fabric lace. Wouldn’t that be pretty?!?! Stamp sentiment in Totally Black D2BA ink. Assemble from bottom to top. Folded A2 card base with Modern Bliss paper. Then pop white panel with your favorite dimensional adhesive. Apply Hootie and branch.
Let the eye be drawn to the drama of the paper and the owl. White space will get you there!

Thanks for popping in and I hope you pop back in soon for more amazing inspiration!
Creatively Yours, Janette
