Hello crafty friends! We have just entered into the month of September, and that means Fall is quickly approaching. Cool temperatures, orange and rust colors, leaves falling … a beautiful time of year. Are you Nuts Over Fall? It’s one of my favorite times of year. How about you?
Today’s card project has many layers. It’s safe to say, that after assembling this card, it would be very sturdy going through the mail. It’s a standard A2 size card base with a top fold. The top layer I’m using the Autumn Plaid Paper Pack – Artzy Paper. The second and third layers are small panels of cardstock with Fall ink colors, while the fourth layer is a regular piece of watercolor sheet of paper. The focal points are the cute little squirrels, along with the two acorns. [And] the sentiment, is on its own strip of white cardstock. Lots of layers, so keep reading to see how I put it all together.
My card design starts with stamping the squirrels and acorns with Totally Black Artzy Ink. I color the squirrels using Copic markers and cut them out using the matching Squirrel Die set. Next, I ink blend separate pieces of cardstock and acorns, using Fall ink colors. To finish off the ink blending, I blend a separate coordinating ink color on to the card base.
I move on to using the Wavy Square Framelits on the Artzy paper and green (Peeled Paint) card panel. Then, I trim down all paper and panels (with exception to the watercolor paper sheet) to measure 4 x 5.25 inches. The watercolor paper is slightly more than 1/8 inch border on all sides. I assemble all paper and panels onto the card base. I stamp the sentiment and use the Wavy Square Framelit to cut it out using two cuts. The first cut on the top of the sentiment, rotate it 180° to make the second cut. I didn’t anticipate the end results coming out so cute, but it’s a great way to stretch your stash. Not to mention, it coordinates with the other cuts, so it’s a win-win.
To finish off the card, I adhere the squirrels, acorns, and sentiment to the card base. I apply Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents for shimmer and shine. I’m Nuts Over Fall color combinations on this card. I love the dimension and the critters are too cute! What do you think?
Thanks for visiting!
