Hello Artzy Friends! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments. Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday !
I’m back today to share a card I created using the Dare 2B Artzy Flower Mandala stamp set. This stamp set features a large flower mandala, a medium and a small single flower with a leaf. This set is awesome for coloring and fussy cutting to create gorgeous dimensional flowers. If you’re not a fan of fussy cutting, there is a Flower Mandala coordinating die available as well.
Today I’m sharing a simple one-layer card featuring these gorgeous flowers.
To start I stamped the imaged onto some light grey cardstock with some Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink.
Once everything was stamped, I pulled out my Soho Artists colored pencils and began to color my flowers. I didn’t really have a set color scheme but I ended up with a bit of fall colors. These flowers reminded me of the fall flower baskets that you see at the stores this time of year. I guess my I’m trying to will fall to be here soon as it’s been so hot in Colorado lately and we’re having a lot of wild fires pop up in the mountains.
Coloring the flowers took quite a while to layer and to get the depth that I was trying to achieve. Colored pencils are a medium that seems to take me a lot of time-maybe it’s just me. I did use a bit of Gamsol and some blending stumps to blend and smooth out the coloring.
To add some additional shading I outlined all of the flowers with a light blue colored pencil. I like the sort of glow that it gives the flowers.
Once all of the flowers and leaves were colored, I did outline all of the images with a fine tip black pen. I find that this really helps the images pop as the original stamped lines tend to get lighter when coloring with pencils.
I stamped the Friends Forever sentiment in the open space at the top of the card panel and heat embossed with some Hero Arts Blue embossing powder. However, I did run into a bit of trouble with this embossing powder. It left a blue haze on my card panel even though I used an anti-static powder bag. This really frustrated me because I had spent nearly a week coloring the flowers and I certainly didn’t have time to start over on my project.
To try and remove the blue haze around the sentiment area, I used a sand eraser. It didn’t remove the blue tint as well as I would have liked. Ultimately I ended up using an Aqua Shimmer pen and coloring in the areas of my background that weren’t stamped. That helped disguise the blue tint a bit.
I had a frame of blue cardstock left over from a previous project. I thought it complimented the blue flowers well so I glued to the front of the card panel.
I added some dimensional foam to the back of my panel and popped it up on some metallic brown cardstock to add to the fall color scheme.
To embellish my card front, I added some lavender pearls which really help the purple flowers pop.
Lastly the panel was added to an A2 size top folding card panel.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you’ve enjoyed my card.
Have a great day!
Tonya
