Hi Artzy friends! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments. I’m back today with a fun card featuring the Love Birds Stamp set from Dare 2B Artzy!
My wedding anniversary is coming up in early October. Hubby and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. It doesn’t seem like 10 years has already passed, I think that’s because we have such fun together! I thought that the sentiments in this stamp set would make for a perfect anniversary card.
I started my card by creating an ink blended background using some Bristol Smooth white cardstock in 100 lb weight. Initially I wanted to create a full night time scene but I ended up creating sort of a dusk-like scene. I went over my background a few times to get the perfect blend and added in some clouds using some white pigment ink.
To finish the look for my background I used some metallic water colors to create a splattered effect in the darkest part of the sky for my background. This gave me some kind of larger splatters than I had hoped for so I did go back in and add in some more detailed sparkle using a Sakura Stardust pen. The shimmer is hard to pick up in photos, but it really sparkles in the light.
I set my background aside to dry as I knew I would be doing some heat embossing and didn’t want to have my embossing powder sticking everywhere on my background. Of course, you can also use a heat tool to speed up the process if you’re pressed for time.
Next, I stamped the adorable Love Birds from the stamp set using Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink and colored them using my Chroma Alcohol markers. I used a couple of different colors for each bird and I was able to get a nice vibrant color for each. I used a blue-green blend of colors on the boy and a pink-coral color on the girl. I really love how they turned out. They really pop against the background of the card.
To give the tree branch a bit of depth I used a darker color on the bottom side where it would be shaded and a lighter color at the top. The leaves were colored using two shades of green.
I was thankful that this Love Birds set has a coordinating die that cuts this cute Love Bird couple and the tree branch all at once. It even cuts those little spaces at the bottom between the two birds and between the female bird and the branch. I love the little details in this die set!!
To create the little heart above my love birds, I used a red alcohol marker and colored some white cardstock making sure it was well saturated with color. Next, I used the cute little heart die that comes with the Love Birds die set and cut out a heart from the area that I colored. This is an awesome way to avoid cutting a full sheet of colored cardstock when you just need to cut a small solid colored shape. It’s a great way to use up the white scraps of cardstock you may have laying around.
Of course my little heart wouldn’t be complete without some sparkle so I added some using a Sakura Stardust pen and then used some Glossy Accents on top to give it some added shine.
I used the Dare 2B Artzy Wavy Slimline Framelets Die set to cut out my ink blended background. Since my birds are sitting on a tree branch, I decided I needed something to ground them. To create some interest for my ground I used the new Wavy Slimline Border dies, I cut two different colors of green cardstock. Once those were cut I figured out which piece I would want in front and cut it with the Wavy Slimline Framlets die so that the bottom and side borders would line up with my background. I did this again with the darker green cardstock. This created a nice hill-like lawn.
To create the grass, I used a cut file for my Cricut machine and cut a simple strip and then once again used my Wavy Slimline Framelet to make the strip line up with the bottom border on my background.
Before assembling all of the layers for my card panel I stamped the sentiment, “You will Forever be my Always” using some Versamark ink and heat set it with some fine detail white embossing powder.
Finally, I added my Love Birds, heart and grasses to the bottom of the panel using some dimensional foam.
I mounted the panel to some Dare 2B Artzy Fields of Joy cardstock that I’d die cut using the long rectangle die from the Wavy Slimline Framelts die set.
The entire panel was added to a slimline card base from some 110 lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. The finished card measures 8 ½ by 3 ¾ so it will fit in a standard #10 business envelope.
Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed the card featuring the Dare 2B Artzy Love Birds stamp and die set and the new Wavy Slimline Framelets dies and Wavy Slimlines Border Dies.
Hugs!
Tonya
