Part 1: The folder
If you have not made this yet you can see my previous post for details.
Part 2: Distressing Technique for tags and binding on the folder.
Images 1 & 2: The finished tags and bookmark. Note: I added a piece of cardstock to the back of the bookmark for more stability. You can do that on the tags also.
Images 3 & 4: This technique works best with three inks and a water mister. I have chosen Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Rusty Hinge, Faded Jeans and Wild Honey. Tap each color on your splat matt 2 to 3 times. I usually use less of the darkest color.
Images 5 & 6: Spritz water once on each color. You should see the ink beed up. Wipe paper through the ink or lay it on top and pat the back of the paper. It may get a little muddy if you smear too much.
Images 7 & 8: Turn paper over and dry with your heat tool. Wipe up some more ink and dry again. You can continue this until you get your desired look. I would ink up all your tags and bookmark at once then move onto the next step.
Images 9 & 10: Pull out your “Time in a Bottle” stamp and place it on an acrylic block. Ink up with Memento black ink. You will be stamping on your album binding and bookmark. Note in image 10 the bottle is off to the right side because I want the bottle to show on the front of my album. Make sure your inked paper is dry. Place down on paper and use even pressure and try not to rock the block.
Image 11: Use the gear stamp in “wild honey” in the background.
Image 12: I wrapped ribbon around the folder then applied the binding so the ribbon would not cover up the bottle stamp. Note the torn edge. If you tear after you ink, you will want to run the edge through a little more ink. Add some ribbons to your tags and bookmark and you have just finished your File Folder mini album!
Hope you enjoy your mini album.
Blessings, Cindy
