Hello and thanks for stopping by! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments.com and I’m back today with a fun Halloween shaker card project for Dare 2B Artzy. My card today uses the super cute Haunted House stamp set and House Die from Dare 2B Artzy. The house die set I used works with all 4 varieties of Dare 2B Artzy house stamp sets which is just part of what makes Dare 2B Artzy so cool.
For the shaker card, I started by stamping the Haunted House onto some white cardstock with Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink and coloring it some spooky looking colors using my Copic Markers.
Once the house was completely colored, I die cut it using the House Die and added a bit of clear Wink of Stella to the roof and headstone. I set aside the cardstock that I cut the house from so that I can use it later to help me center the die cut house.
Next, I cut two pieces of grey cardstock. One piece of cardstock 4 ¼ x 5 ½ and another cut to 4 ¼ by 11 and scored to be a top folding card base.
For the single A2 size cardstock, I sponged on some inks in blue, purple, black and just a touch of pink until the entire card front was covered in ink. Using the base cardstock in grey helps to darken the colors I sponged on which helped set the tone for the spooky dark night.
When my sponging was completed, I stamped the cloud and some bats from the Dare 2B Artzy Haunted House set with some Versamark and then heat embossed them with some dark blue embossing powder. Next, I stamped the BOO sentiment with some Versamark and used some Ultrafine White embossing powder.
I placed the die cut negative into my MISTI on top of my front panel that I just sponged and placed the die into the negative space and centered it on the front so that I’d be able to center the die properly on my card front. Once in place I slipped the die cut house into the center and held it there while I removed the negative and replaced the die and taped it in place.
I was then able to run the panel through my die cut machine. With the front panel cut, I was ready to add a piece of acetate to the back of the panel and adhered it with some score-tape.
With my little colored Haunted House centered on scored card front, I used some dimensional foam and built a little wall around my image using two layers of foam. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you want to build a barrier to keep the sequins inside the area. It’s a bit of a challenge with shaped images. Once I felt like I had enough foam tape in place, I used my EK Success powder tool and brushed powder around the inside of the foam tape to keep the shaker items from sticking to the foam tape.
I added some pretty orange, purple and black iridescent sequins into the center of the shaker.
I peeled off all the coverings from the foam tape and placed my card front over the top of the image so that it showed through the shaker window. If I were perfect, the placement of the front window would have gone smoothly the first time. Of course I’m not so it was a bit off center. To fix the issue I used some glue that dries clear and some Nuvo ultra fine black glitter and I outlined the die cut window to that it would camouflage the foam tape. I think it worked pretty well.
I used a black Copic marker and went around all the edges of the card so that the edges would match with the darker colors of the card. Then I went back and sponged on a bit of black and purple ink around the edges to finish it off.
On the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment You’ve Been Spooked.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my Halloween inspired shaker card.
