Good Monday to you, Dare 2B Atrzy friends!!
Janette here sharing with you an easy peasy birthday shaker card!
Shaker cards are always so fun. Don’t be intimidated by them! If you’ve got some foam tape, a die, and clear packaging, you are good to go!
I pulled this Brusho watercolor powder on watercolor paper background piece from a stack of “just playing” pieces that I hang onto and trimmed it to A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). I always am super excited when I actually use one! I then die cut black glitter paper with the D2BA Cupcake die and another border die for a simple frame. Next, I white heat embossed “Happy Birthday” from D2BA You’ve Got Mail onto a narrow strip of black cardstock.
To assemble the card adhere the border die cut to the cupcake die cut and then add acetate to the back. You can use acetate sheets or I often simply upcycle stamp packaging. Flip to adhere sentiment strip. Next, build the walls on back by first double layering a foot or so of foam tape. Then cut into thin strips, lengthwise. You’ll want the strips thin enough to hide behind the border. Remove backing on one side and adhere to card leaving no gaps for contents to escape. Finally, add varied sequins and/or beads on top of the background paper in center area. Dust exposed interior edges of foam tape with an embossing tool or cornstarch to prevent shaker contents from sticking. Last, remove backing from foam tape and center on background paper. Press firmly around edges to adhere well and shake… shake, shake, shake! So fun and easy, right?!?
Check out all D2BA’s products here! Don’t forget about the newest D2BA Challenge themed “Girly.” The current challenge is always posted in the sidebar to the right at the top.
Thanks for popping in and I hope you pop back in soon for more amazing inspiration!
Creatively Yours, Janette
