Be Yourself

February 14, 2022 0 Comments

Hello and thanks for stopping by. I hope you’re having a wonderful Valentines Day! I am back with another card today featuring some fun new products from Dare 2B Artzy.

Today I’m using the new Good Vibes stamp and coordinating die set and I’ve paired it with the Quilted Flower Background die.

To start, I stamped and colored the girl from the Good Vibes stamp set along with the coffee and phone with Dare 2B Artzy’s Totally Black in onto some 110lb Neenah cardstock. I colored her skin with my Artify alcohol markers and then did her hair and clothes with my Copic markers.

Once I was finished coloring, I used the coordinating die set to cut my stamped images out. The die set for this cuts really close to the image so it doesn’t leave a lot of white space. I love that for this stamp set.

Next, I cut the Quilted Flower Background Die from some dark blue cardstock and also some pink foil cardstock I had in my stash. The Quilted Flower Background Die measures 4 x 5 ¼ inches so it’s just under an A2 size card which makes it perfect or layering onto your card panel.

Once the backgrounds were cut, I used a Tool-in-One brush to roll over the backgrounds and pop out all of the little flowers. This intricate die cuts beautifully and leaves behind the perfect quilted pattern and the fun tiny flowers!

I did try to save the cute little flowers as I’d planned to use them on another card or in a shaker card however, there was a mishap as my husband was taking my computer out to look at upgrading it. He was under my desk and he accidently grabbed the piece of paper that had all of my little die cut flowers on it that was balanced precariously on top of a mound of crafting supplies; as he was under my desk and the paper tilted and spilled all of the flowers onto him. It was pretty funny, but he wasn’t too amused.

With two backgrounds cut from the Quilted Flower Die, I proceeded to add some 1/8th inch Score-Tape to the back of the blue cardstock. I added the tape around the outside edges and diagonally as there seemed to be more space between the rows that way.

Once my blue background had adhesive all around the background, I carefully aligned it to the pink foil background that I cut from the same die and then shifted it slightly so that a small portion of the pink foil would peek through my navy cardstock. It flashes the perfect amount of pink foil at the right angles. I just love how it looks!

I wanted something to ground my Good Vibes girl on my background. I used a Wood Grain embossing folder from my stash and embossed some tan cardstock and cut about a piece that was about ¾ of an inch wide. I glued that to the bottom of the panel and then added liquid glue to the back of my Good Vibes girl and placed her so that the bottom edge of her shirt lined up with my embossed paper. This gives the look that she’s leaning on a table.

I added her coffee frappe drink in front of her with some dimensional foam and then glued her cell phone onto the embossed cardstock.

For my sentiment, I stamped the Be Yourself Everyone Else is Taken from the Fruit Loop Stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment with some Cactus Flower embossing powder from Hero Arts.

I die cut the sentiment using the Rectangle Framelets die set. The die was a bit larger than I wanted so I ran it through my die cutting machine once to cut out the whole sentiment which I’d centered at one end of the die cut piece. Next, using the dot border I was able to realign the die and cut the excess off leaving a perfectly framed up sentiment. I popped the sentiment onto my background with some dimensional foam.

For some finishing touches, I went back in with a Tonic Shimmer pen and added some sparkle to her nails and the center of her earrings. Next, I used a white Jelly Roll pen and added white dot details to the center of the flowers on her shirt and to her eyes. I didn’t add any additional embellishment because I think the pop of pink foil in the background gives enough flashiness for this card.

This was a pretty simple card, but I really love how it turned out. Sometimes simple is best.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I will have all of the products that I used for today’s card linked below for your convenience.

Hugs,

Tonya
