All You Need is Love!

August 17, 2016 0 Comments

Hi Dare 2B Artzy fans! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week and that you’ve taken time to check out the Dare 2B Artzy & Canvas Corp Brands Matchup Blog Hop! There are some amazing projects that combine both Dare 2B Artzy stamps & inks and Canvas Corp Brands – you have to see them for yourself.  There’s a great prize pack up for grabs for some lucky winner of this Hop so check it out!

I’m back today with a quick card to share with you featuring an older Dare 2B Artzy stamp set called Love Stackable.

I knew when I saw this stamp set that I really wanted to create a two toned card with it because it has these perfect elements that you can make the focal point as you’ll see today.

I started out by separating all my stamps and then laying them out on a piece of paper to figure out what layout was going to work best. Obviously these stamps could be used to create a fun Valentine’s card, Anniversary card or even a Wedding card for someone. They would be great sentiments alone or together to make a special card. I decided to let the sentiment lines of this set tell a story of how love progresses from needing love, finding love (two hearts one love), getting married (to have & to hold), having a lifetime of happiness and finally living happily ever after forever.

As soon as I had my sentiments laid out in the order I would stamp them on the card. I grabbed my mini MISTI and used it to position and line up all of my sentiments. I really don’t know what I did without my MISTI and to think that I didn’t use it for almost a year, LOL!  The grid makes is super easy to line up sentiments and stamps so you don’t get any wonky, crazy crooked lines when you’re stamping your final images.

With my sentiments all lined up, I stamped them using a thick white Pigment Ink. I actually stamped it twice to get a clean impression.

After cleaning all the white pigment ink off my sentiment stamps, I removed them from my MISTI; leaving my stamped image in place. I used my anti-static powder tool to brush across the areas that I would be embossing.

Next, I positioned the elements that would be in a bold Red color on my card. I used the cute lips and heart stamps to fill in the large “O” letters on Love and Forever.  I love that those two cute stamps are designed for exactly that purpose. It’s such a nice touch.

I positioned the strip of hearts and the sentiment “they lived happily ever after” in the gaps I’d left when I had stamped the sentiments in white.  Once I had them straight I used my Versamark ink pad to ink the stamps and I stamped and inked them onto my cardstock twice to once again get a clean image.

Love final wm

When I’d finished stamping with the Versamark, I removed my stamped image and sprinkled some bright red embossing powder on those areas. Of course, I should have thought to let my white pigment ink dry a bit longer (or heat set it) as the embossing powder stuck to a lot of the other sentiments when I put it on my card.  Luckily, it’s an easy fix. Whenever you have embossing powder stuck to areas you don’t want to be embossed, just grab a small tipped paint brush and gently brush off the embossing powder from all the areas you don’t want embossed. I keep a set of brushes in my tool caddy on my desk for just this purpose.

After brushing off all the excess powder, I was finally ready to heat emboss those areas of the card in red. The result of the red against the black cardstock and white stamped lettering is pretty cool. It almost gives it a 3 dimensional look to the card.

Finally, I added 6 little red gems to the front of the card for some dimensional interest. I popped it onto some silver & black glittered cardstock and then onto a red piece of cardstock and the entire thing was mounted with adhesive to a white card base.

For those of you wondering, the love story is my own.  After searching for the perfect love for 39 years, I found him. As we discovered after we started dating, we had been so close (in proximity) to each other on so many occasions between his school location and my work location, his volunteer work and my home, he had ice cream with friends a half block from my office downtown.  He even had a friend that he’d worked for and that friend was the one that ran the cabling in my condo. On some level we were destined to meet – our paths had been circling each other, but it had to be at the right point in our lives (I wish it would have been sooner).  We met in 2009 through an online dating site and got married in 2010 and now we’re working on sharing a lifetime of happiness. This is my happily ever after, FOREVER. I’m so blessed to have met such a wonderful, kind, caring, man. He’s the best and I’m lucky to have him in my life.

love 2 wm
